A Trash Secret – A Musical Junk Kickstarter Project

An Interesting Take on Trash

I got wind of this via Cory Doctorow over at Boing! Boing!  I would encourage you to simply check out the 6 minute video because the creator of this project not only explains it well but you can see, hear and feel his passion.  He also shares many of the “inventions” he is already using for his Kickstarter Project, A Trash Secret.

Through Gamer Goggles News Episode 003

We opened this week’s show with a video game related song My Atari from Sudden Death who is better known as Devo Spice.  Devo Spice is a member of The FuMP which is short for Funny Music Project.

Video Games Good for You

From the Wall Street Journal

“Videogames can change a person’s brain and, as researchers are finding, often that change is for the better. A growing body of university research suggests that gaming improves creativity, decision-making and perception. The specific benefits are wide ranging, from improved hand-eye coordination in surgeons to vision changes that boost night driving ability. “

Other points to note

  • Women that play video games are better able to manipulate 3D objects

  • Violent games have the strongest beneficial effect, But they are a two-edged sword. Compulsive video gaming can lead to obesity, introversion, and even depression. What was the name of that Bobby Brown song? Every gamer needs to listen to this while they play Don’t Worry Be Happy

  • According to the article the average gamer is 34 and plays about 18 hours a week.

We then played Pac Man by Devo Spice with Worm Quartet Both are members of The FuMP.

For Lumpy, Christmas is for the children. My family celebrates it on Christmas Eve and I spent most of my Christmas Day organizing Christmas Music. This podcast originally streamed live on Christmas Day, it is Christmas Music with only a tad bit of chat in between. Merry Christmas and enjoy: Special kudos and thanks to Cleta and Knowles217 for joining me on this holiday special. Here is a list of what we played in three and half hour show.

2011 Indie Nation Impromptu Christmas Party

Greetings and Happy Christmas Listeners,

Welcome to our first annual Christmas party, held both on-line and in the Cold Crank Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. At one point in time during this three and a half hour live stream almost every member of the staff was able to join us.

The party thought started rather impromptu when some of us locally got together to do some Christmas IDs for the stream. Then Cleta got busy at geekshed and got in touch with a few of the other regulars. Regrettably we did not manage to contact everyone due to the impromptu nature of it. So if you didn’t get and invite, don’t be offended, that is just the way it worked out this time.

Greetings Indie Nation listeners,

Christmas in the post-War United States

Yes, it is that time of the year again where the malls and stores will deafen you with the same thirty versions of six Christmas songs.  To be honest, Lumpy feels more like Scrooge this year and is having a hard time getting in the spirit.  The reasons are pretty simple:

  • They started the Christmas music before Halloween
  • They are playing the same music year after year in the same order
  • I don’t have a job
  • They are setting up multiple Santas at the exits, asking money for multiple causes… man the kids are going to be confused… it is worse than all the Krishna’s at the airport
  • Last and largest, THERE IS NO SNOW
