Captain Humility Released

One of the things I love about being at Indie Nation is that I get all these awesome press releases.  I got one from Behind the Curtain Media this week that I think is particularly noteworthy.  Part of it reads:

New York City’s very own IONIA is proud to release their debut EP entitled “Captain Humility” today! The five-piece dynamic band delves deep into your psyche with powerful lyrics and resonating music. Their upcoming music video, for “Captain Humility” will be released July 1st. The video was written, directed and produced by singer Blaise Beyhan and is a continuation of the storyline from their first video “Mutiny”. The addition of film adds an entirely new dimension to their already spine-tingling music

Great Music in the Inbox – Cloverhill

One of the reasons you often hear me say “I listen to bad music so you don’t have to” is because it is true.  This is especially so now that everyone and their deaf brother can make music with a PC.  Nonetheless, I give each submission a listen and am always happy and pleased to report when I find something that I find pleasing to the ears.  A recent email from Paul Laskey  would fall into the latter and better category.

Not only is today Ford Mustang Day but it is the fiftieth anniversary for the legendary automobile.  In honor of the later, Ford intends to place a 2015 Mustang on the observation deck of the Empire State Building.  This is not the first time.  They did the same back in 64 when they first released the car.

For today’s song, I went with Mustang Daddy by Jinx Titanic.  You can find out more about Jinx Titanic at the links below.

The folks here at Indie Nation are huge The Walking Dead  fans.  It has been a good while since we did a review so we are covering the three episodes since the mid-season break.

We also did a recap of the news we covered this week.  If you would like to take part in the news show, get yourself into #indienation at geekshed IRC and hail us in chat.  We do the show weekly from 8-10 pm EST with except on the second Monday of each month and legal holidays.

We closed the show with a few tracks from The Griswolds.  You can find them at bandcamp.

For the record, the famous Sullivan Show appearance actually occurred before I was born.  Granted, only 6 days, but nonetheless still before. However, I would be a liar if I didn’t simply confess that I am a Beatleholic and do not consider Beatlemania an affliction but a blessing.  As well as the Fab Four has done over the years, it is clear I am not alone.

The album kicks off with the raucous thick sounding song titled From me to you. The sound is thick, heavy and distorted accompanied by a slightly whinny well delivered lead vocals, delivering the lyrics in phrased burst working well against the driving rhythm guitar and steady drums. It is a good choice for an opening track because it leaves you anticipating the rest of this four track EP.

Today’s show features the music of The Griswolds. We opened with Mississippi and Heart of a Lion. We liked their down under sound so much we decided to also end the show with Red Tuxedo. Links for the band are at the end of the show notes.
