Lila Cheney – An Awesome Xmen Themed Music Video
I really like this video by Lila Cheney & The New Mutants. I hope the copyright vultures don’t swoop down on this creative parody. It is too kewl to have its innards torn out of the Internet. I don’t think it is super spectacular but it is a perfect fit for myself. Maybe it goes back to my childhood. I was into both Xmen and music before I was school.
I love the theme. I love the effects and I especially love how well the music and the video work with each other.
Iggy Pop and Josh Homme Perform a Song from Their New Album
While we have heard much about the greatness of David Bowie since his passing there are still others around doing great work. Iggy Pop and Josh Homme are among them. Sadly, the Star Man may no longer with us, he is, in a sense, still here. He was not only a terrific performer but served as a mentor and inspiration to many musicians. I am pleased to see some new work by a musician who once stated “He resurrected me” in an interview when he referred to the late artist.
After the break, check out this performance of a new track from Iggy Pop and Josh Homme.
Kraftwerk – 1970 – Soester Konzert, WDR Archive
Sometimes saying less is more. Take some time to watch this historic Kraftwerk 1970 Soester Konzert. It is the innovative band’s first concert.
The video is about one hour and after the break.
David Bowie the Impersonator
No doubt we have all heard a lot about David Bowie of the late. But have you heard of David Bowie the impersonator? Certainly the multi-faceted talent could become any character. Glam rocker, Star Man, Tesla, a goblin king or any other role, he always seemed to nail it.
He did it perfectly and made it look easy. To the point where people are already wondering who can replace him in a rumored Labyrinth 2. Most performers become remembered for a particular character or role.
In my opinion, we are going to remember David Bowie for exactly the opposite. The man could become any character. He truly was flexible and elastic able to bend, shrink or expand to become whatever the role demanded. I remember first seeing him as Tesla and my reaction was “wait, is that David Bowie?”.
Check out how well David Bowie, the Impersonator, nails fellow musicians in the video after the break.
Some Recent Music Trends
Seems that the ever-changing music industry is continuing to do just that. 2015 saw some interesting music trends. First off, streaming is up and digital downloads are down. Even The Beatles are now available on streams. In many ways, it makes sense that streaming is up. You pay for a service, or get it free, and you don’t need to buy each release. However, vinyl is making a comeback at the same time.
Awesome House Track, GuMix Radio – 389 – 2015 on 33-45
I listen to many podcasts. One of them I enjoy much is GuMix. I will get to more about this artist in a bit… a good long bit. The track I am sharing below is a long, awesome house track. Listeners, get your groove on with GuMix 389 – 2015 on 33-45. Will talk more about this track after the break. This is, in my opinion, an awesome hour and a half groove.

2016.01.11 – National Milk Day
Featuring Moo Moo Cow by Seamonkey
Today is National Milk Day. Personally, I stick with the soy stuff for anything other than baking and hot cocoa. However, milk is, in my opinion, at as American as apple pie. Especially since apple pie is best with a healthy scoop of ice cream.
If you wish te celebrate it by more than just downing a glass of the liquid. Family Crafts has a list of activities.
2016.01.07 – International Programmers Day
Featuring Code Monkey by Jonathan Coulton
Today is International Programmers Day. You can take part by liking the Facebook page. I would urge you to check out their website and page. They have some very interesting and entertaining material there. Check out the “Lady JAVA” video I share after the break.
2016.01.06 – Technology Day
Featuring Ambientasia by DJ Trackstyle
Today is National Technology Day. Personally, I have a serious love-hate relationship with technology. I love to try to use it but I hate fighting with my old PCs to make them work.
I also love applied technology when it comes to music. I am not one of those who feel that synth music is soulless. I have been around synthesizers since the days of monophonic patch cord Moogs. I still have a DX7 sitting my studio and love electronic music.
It seemed appropriate to go with a synth song today. I found this artist way back in the day at the now non-existent Podsafe Music Network. I am going to spin Ambientasia by DJ Trackstyle
While most of the links in my notes are now useless, a few Google searches showed me that the DJ is still out there. You can find DJ Trackstyle at the links below.
Thanks for listening and downloading. Please remember to support the indie musicians.
