Meow – Marc Gunn to do a Cat Themed Concert
I am snot sure when this hit my feed reader but I noticed it this morning. Marc Gunn, who you will hear much about today for it is Celtic Thursday, describes his music as “rhythm and folk” and themed around Sci Fi, hobbits, cats and Star Wars. He also does lots of drinking songs. Marc has an announcement
I have seen Marc perform live. I can tell you that it should be a great show. He is just a great entertainer. Be sure to get your tickets.

For Celtic Thursday, Ceili Moss
This is an edited shorter version of our live news show from Monday, 15 September, 2014. We tend to focus on tech, net news, and games. We are still a music oriented station. We always open and close with indie music. This post is just the beginning and end of our news show.
We opened the news with Ceil Moss:
- As Far as the Eye Can See from the album of the same name
- Lies a Lurrighan
I was lucky enough to meet this talented young woman at Gen Con. Check out this rap battle.

An Interview with William Witt of Pajaggle Games
There are many colorful displays at Gen Con but I think that Pajaggle may have taken the best of show for that department. The company was part of the Family Fun Pavilion and one of fifty participants in the Cheese Weasel Conquest. The colors alone make the game fun but listen in as William Witt and I discuss:
- The game platform
- How it is three games in one for ages 7 above
- Some of the awards the game has received
- The history of the company
- His advice to those who would like to start a game company
- What does the name mean?
Powerful and Moving – Speak to Me by On the Run
This band contacted us some time ago. However, due to having the best problem any music reviewer could have, that being too many submissions and not enough listening time, I am just now digging them out of my inbox. On the Run is an alternative rock/rock band from East Freedom, Pennsylvania. The quintet has a very powerful and engaging sound. I won’t say much about them because I am sure you will decide to like them if you only give them a listen. I will say they crank out some great work on the guitars. The members are:
- John Ross Green – Vocals/Guitar
- Ryan Weaver – Guitar/Vocals
- Paul Johnson – Guitar
- Tyler Miller – Bass
- Brian Fisher – Drums
Many Musicians to Join the George Harrison Tribute Concert
While John was my favorite of the “Fab Four” as a soloist, there is a strong argument that George may well be the most respected as a singer-songwriter. The simple fact that the man settled for one or two tracks competing with the Lennon-McCartney duo certainly says much about his commitment to the group. Regardless of how I feel, it is clear that many musicians have tons of respect and admiration for the man.
Pitchfork.com reports that Brian Wilson, Wayne Coyne, Weird All, members of Weezer, Cold War Kids and more will all be performing at the show. All proceeds are going to Sweet Relief. Sweet Relief is a non-profit that provides monetary support for struggling musicians.
After the break, there is a video of the DVD of a previous tribute concert to the former Beatle. I have a friend who is a total Harrison fanatic and she was kind enough to let me watch the entire set. I can say two things about the work. First, it is amazing how much his son looks like him. So much so that it actually confused Paul. Second, it is an excellent line up and performance. The boxed DVD set has a lot of material, all of which is very enjoyable.
JIMI HENDRIX – 1967.12.22 “Christmas on Earth Continued”
Open Culture is one of my favorite feeds. Not only do they share where to find books but also video gems like the one below. Check out Jimi covering The Beatles.

Kittens, Music and General Geekery
I honestly can’t decide whether this lady is easier on the eyes, ears, soul or brains. Quoting her Twitter account, “I have kittens and I’m not afraid to use them”. Honestly, what geek could not like some one who love cats and sings about physics. Sarah Donner is one of the many talents that will be performing at the 2014 Gen Con. Check out her video below and follow her at the links after the video.
While Not Entirely, It is Mostly About the Games
The 2014 Gen Con will begin Wednesday night. I am busy making a list of things to do. Some of you may be wondering why an online indie music station is so pumped about a gaming con. The fact is that every single member of the news crew here is some type of gamer. Furthermore, some of the artists performing at Gen Con are regulars in our rotation here. In short, it is an excellent match.
I am not alone in feeling this way. Last year nearly 50 thousand people attended. There are so many vendors in the exhibit hall that it is impossible to absorb every booth. Over the next few days, I am going to share with you just a few things you can experience at the event. Today it happens to be a game. On other days, it will be either a different game, a writing seminar or an indie artist.
