Humble Bundle, Games, Comics, eBooks, Audio Books and More

I thought I might take a few minutes to scribe a post regarding Humble Bundle. Brian and I often talk about bundles on the Tech Net News and Opinion show.  It certainly is in the spirit of what we believe in here at indienation.fm.  Originally The Humble Indie Bundle, the company offers packages, aka bundles, with a pay-what-you-like model. The company is now a huge success.

The first bundle was by Wolfire Games in 2010. By the second offering, they had spun off to Humble Bundle Inc. The bundles are usually offered for two week periods. They have since expanded to include comics, ebooks, audio books and more.  In short, the company has benefited greatly by giving the consumer what they want.  Add to it they have done good by doing so because portions of the funds raised usually benefit a charity. All things considered, it is more of a community than a company. Another neat thing they do is publish statistics on who gave how much.  Brian and I have noticed that those cheap Linux users typically give the most.  Go figure :P The thing is that they offer so much, so often that it is easy to miss some spectacular offers.  If you wish to capitalize on these great offers, you should:

Alternatively, you can browse their site by categories: the weekly, book, mobile, and flash bundles each have their own page.  They also have everything they offer available at The Humble Store.

Regardless, how you choose to follow this bit of new media order awesomeness is up to you.  We here at Indie Nation simply think it is proof that new business models, specifically those community supported, are the way to go and encourage you to support this project.
