Full Trunk

Hard Blues Rockin’ Band from Israel

Happy New Year all. I am still digging through my inbox backlog. No worries great music is timeless. Let us all kick off the first Monday of 2017 with some awesome rockin’ blues from Full Trunk.

Previously known as Nisman Trio this Israel-based band really kicks ass. I immediately listened to and loved every track… even though, at times, I can’t understand the lyrics. Don’t let the fact that some of their material is in Hebrew, they have plenty of Tunes sung in English.

Black Satellite – Don’t Forget My Name

The Black Satellites – Don’t Forget My Name

BlackSatellite-DontForgetMyName-CoverIf you like driving get-jam-on rock and roll, you will love the four track release, Don’t Forget My Name, from the New York City-based group, Black Satellite. It is driving, hard-hitting, fantastically energetic, and leaves one wanting more.

As I almost always do, let me have the band speak for themselves. According to their bio:

“Delivering a fusion of hearty blues, hard rock with a pop undercurrent that doesn’t undermine its complexity and originality. Melodic, fragile, authentic, built with emotion and groove before giving way to powerhouse vocals and screaming guitars. In a nutshell a sound with every song to make your heart beat a little bit harder”

The Band Avon Dale – Rocky, Bluesy and Jamin’ in Memphis

Warning: Some may consider this material may not safe for work and has some profanities. If that bothers you, please exercise your freedom of choice by going to another post as we exercise our freedom of speech.

The Band Avon Dale is a Memphis-based band. I will give you my take on them in a short minute. However, I think they do a great job of describing themselves, from their About Page:

“Avon Dale is a Memphis-based, rootsy rock band with a touch of soul. A four piece band featuring a dynamic rhythm section, the elemental sounds of an acoustic guitar, blues inspired electric guitar riffs, and soulful vocals, that range from tender and plaintive, to gritty and beseeching. A powerful live act, Avon Dale meshes concise rock ballads with lengthy improvisational jams. With a raw energetic presence, the band is quickly gaining followers in rock and jam band circles alike and becoming a Memphis must see act.”

Welcome to episode 001 of the Whatever and Whenever PodCast, actually, when we recorded this episode, we had not even thought of a name for it. Meshelly and Lumpy just knew that we wanted to add another show to the line up at Indie Nation. We wanted to do news and music… and we wanted to simply use it to hijack the stream when nothing else was scheduled. We also knew we wanted something that would be fun and safe for work. Our thought was something like a drive time show, mostly music, some fun banter and some recent news.

So on the mics we go, fired up idjc (Internet DJ Console) and off into cyberspace we blasted. And remember, you will never know when a new show may stream live and, in the end, time-shifted or live, it is hopefully great content.

Welcome to this week’s episode of Tech Net News and Opinion.  This week we accidentally/intentionally did things a bit differently.  For those of you who have been asking for more news and less music, you got it.  Brian, Knowles, Meshelly, Knunez (iPhone at Geekshed), OmniDragon and Lumpy start and end this week’s show with music but the rest is all news talk.

Remember listeners and readers, if you wish to participate, the way to do so is to get on over to the Geekshed IRC Network and join us in #indienation.  We do the news live almost every Monday from 8-10 PM EST.  (As a general rule, if a Monday is a holiday in the USA, we do NOT do the news.)  If you have items you think we should cover as news, shoot us an email at news@indienation.fm or tweet us @indienationfm.

The Pwn Plug is a Little White Box That Can Hack Your Network

This is a little white box that looks like a power adapter. A nation wide bank sent in what looked like a technician to go in and say I need to test for power fluctuations on the power circuit, and what he did was just plug this white box into a power plug and then there was a little network cable that went over to the network. What it does is it will hack the network without you even touching it. It’s got a Linux type of operating system on it. You don’t even have to have a computer hooked to the network. Just plug this in, it hacks the network, and you can buy these for 480 dollars for a basic model. And for $250 dollars more, you can get an elite version. You can connect to it over a mobile network and it pretty much gets you into the network. So, this is a big security concern for places like banks, financial service companies, etc.

Google Patent Application Reveals Broadband Dreams

Google has applied for a patent for general edging system and methods which they say is a low-impact, convenient, time-efficient, and cost-saving optical fiber deployment technology. This edging is a bendable strip that carries fiber-optic lines or coaxial cables. It allows the lines to be run along fences, driveways, or be dug into lawns. It can also be camouflaged to fit into gardens or decorated to be publicly displayed. This is looking to make installation of fiber cheaper and easier.
