2012.03.02 – The LumpCast and the Spotlight on Various Artists

For this week’s episode of the LumpCast, I thought I would kick back to some of the musicians we have had the pleasure to get to know in the recent past, some locally from Cleveland and others from elsewhere.

I am playing short sets and spotlights for this show. Many of them are recordings I actually did with a Zoom H2 Portable Recording unit when these musicians played live at local clubs in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

Listen in as Cleta, Omnidragon, Boz and Lumpy spin and eclectic mix of indie music.

A Day for a Band that Pushed the Limits on “Acceptable” Videos – Duran Duran Day

Falling Down (Duran Duran song)

Today is Wednesday, August 10, 2011 and it is Duran Duran Appreciation Day. Why have a day for this particular band one might ask?  Well, for those of you who remember music videos in the beginning, especially “Girls on Film”, these were the guys who pushed the limits and bounds of what was “acceptable”.

I know many of you believe that main stream artists never release anything which one would consider “podsafe”.  Sorry, I beg to differ, I have played Alice Cooper, Thomas Dolby, Bowling for Soup and The Mamas and The Papas.  There are some who release many, some labels who “get it” and release many and then there are some, Duran Duran for example, who release one or two.
