VanDeRocker

Kissing Booth

Personally, I am a bit of a snow lover but I am already hearing “Okay, Christmas is over bring on summer”. The song I am sharing should have you thinking summer because it has a certain surf music feel to it.

Before we get to the video, though, a little more information on Adrienne VanDerRocker. From her bio page:

“VanDeRocker is the L.A. based indie rock/electro-pop project of Adrienne VanDeRocker, a composer and songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. Adrienne grew up in Austin, belonging to a Dutch-American family of classical musicians. Piano was her primary instrument in her childhood, but as she became more interested in rock music (and less interested in school), she developed an interest in guitar and writing songs. By 12 years of age, she began performing in local bars with her sister’s band, which marked the beginning of a deep fascination with the world of music and performance art.”

Awesome House Track, GuMix Radio – 389 – 2015 on 33-45

I listen to many podcasts. One of them I enjoy much is GuMix. I will get to more about this artist in a bit… a good long bit. The track I am sharing below is a long, awesome house track. Listeners, get your groove on with GuMix 389 – 2015 on 33-45. Will talk more about this track after the break. This is, in my opinion, an awesome hour and a half groove.

2016.01.06 – Technology Day

Featuring Ambientasia by DJ Trackstyle

Today is National Technology Day. Personally, I have a serious love-hate relationship with technology. I love to try to use it but I hate fighting with my old PCs to make them work.

DJ TrackstyleI also love applied technology when it comes to music. I am not one of those who feel that synth music is soulless. I have been around synthesizers since the days of monophonic patch cord Moogs. I still have a DX7 sitting my studio and love electronic music.

It seemed appropriate to go with a synth song today. I found this artist way back in the day at the now non-existent Podsafe Music Network. I am going to spin Ambientasia by DJ Trackstyle

While most of the links in my notes are now useless, a few Google searches showed me that the DJ is still out there. You can find DJ Trackstyle at the links below.

Thanks for listening and downloading. Please remember to support the indie musicians.

Brian Eno on Music

Brian Eno on Music

In the video below, electronic music pioneer, Brian Eno gives his opinion on music. In particular, he discusses how technology has changed music… in today’s era, he states that it “.. with software-based instruments we have a revolution equivelent to the grand piano every day”. It is an excellent perspective from someone who has not only witnessed the changes in music but lived them as well.  It is an interview about the John Peel Lecture by Brian Eno on music on culture.

Steve Benjamins – Sightlines

Steve Benjamins – Sightlines

Steve Benjamins is a musician from Toronto.  His latest release Sightlines is an ear pleasing collection of downtempo and indie pop.  While his music does have the sound of these genres, this work is eclectic, unique and fresh. His voice is both powerful and soothing. His compositions leave the listener wishing to hear more.  In my opinion, this six track EP, his third release, is his best…  I mean that, on discovery of Steve, I listened to everything I could find by him on the web.

Steve Banjamins - Sightlines

Steve Benjamins – Sightlines

Steve’s combination of vocal and musical styles keep it mellow while maintaining steady movement and energy. He keeps it interesting, you won’t want to stop listening.

There are tracks that flow very much like a Philip Glass work with simple almost monophonic repetitive melodies, others layered for an orchestral feel, at times reminiscent of Mike and the Mechanics, even very unique tracks with a discordant battle going on between the instruments and, best of all, doing it all by creating distinct sound of his own.

Bardus est ut Bardus Does

This week’s “Stupid As Charged” consists of four stories which all share the theme of stupid, dumb, strange, weird, or in some other way are worthy of a dunce cap rating. In particular this episode; being sure to use all applicable discounts with that stolen credit card,  how not to use a motion detecting camera, a coffee bandit,  and, what no more fish?
