Lady Gaga Cancels 25 Remaining U.S. Tour Dates After Hip Labral Tear Is Revealed

POSTED ON February 19th  - POSTED IN Concert, Concerts and Tours, Entertainment, Medicine, music, news

Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her last 25 remaining U.S. “Born This Way” tour dates after it was revealed that she has a right Labral hip tear, caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances  and had to undergo emergency surgery.

A hip labral tear involves the ring of soft elastic tissue, called the labrum, that follows the outside rim of the socket of your hip joint. The labrum acts like a socket to hold the ball at the top of your femur in place.

Lady Gaga revealed Tuesday that she secretly suffered an injury more than a month ago. Gaga tweeted that she hid the pain from her staff because she didn’t want to disappoint her fans, however after a February 12th show, she was left immobile. On February 16th “Mother Monster” as she is known by her adoring fans, tweeted a picture of her new wheel chair she affectionately calls “Emma”.

In a statement posted on her website, Live Nation announced, “After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover.”

We here at Indie Nation, wish Lady Gaga a speedy recovery.

I wonder who thought of this one?  According to physorg.com, in an effort to keep social drinkers safe, Ladybug Teknologies has launched kiosks which will tell you whether it is safe to have another drink or not.  Branded the “SipSmart Network”, these machines have been installed in bars.

On Oct. 14, Ladybug hosted a Canadian launch party for the SipSmart Network at Koi in Hess Village in Hamilton, Ontario. An American kick-off took place Oct. 21 at Caputi’s Sheridan Pub in Tonawanda, N.Y., just outside of Buffalo.

Kiosks will stay at Caputi’s and Chainsaw Saloon in Waterloo, Ontario, through the holiday season. Balloons Restaurant and Nightclub in Ellicottville will host a third kiosk for at least a month.

News – Steve Jobs resigns from Apple as CEO

Steve Jobs resigns from Apple as CEO, this comes to no surprise to me actually.

Although Steve Jobs did not mention his health being a factor with the decision to step down as CEO, only one can assume that is in part the reason why.  Apple will survive on its own merit, its excellent customer service and its product lines.  The tech industry is fickle, Apple’s stock (APPL) did fall out 7% after this announcement, but it should be noted the entire market was down as a whole.   Change in companies happen all the time, this too is not the first time that Steve Jobs left apple (shortly after the release of Macintosh in 1984), but I don’t see him returning in the same capacity as before.

What impact does this have on us, the consumer?  Possible little to nothing actually,  Apple will remain strong in the market as a whole.

Miracle Grow for Weed and WalMart of Weed

"Marijuana Cigarette"

Welcome to the first episode of what may be a regular show here at Indie Nation.  Before we even begin we do not wish to imply that this is an endorsement of marijuana use nor is it the opinion of the station.  It is a little spur of the moment thing that Leiser and Lumpy decided to give a whirl.  We always seem to run into such stories when we are digging the news for Stupid As Charged and believe that there is certainly an entertainment value to it.

Besides, the debate regarding the legalization of marijuana, not only for medical purposes but recreational as well, has been going on forever. Lumpy can ever recall Paul Harvey doing  “The Rest of the Story” shows on “ditch weed” and, no joke, this cough syrup that performed so well that, feminizing the name in honor of his wife, the pharmacist named it Heroine.

A Sleeping Cap for Insomnia

It seems that a special sleeping cap may well help fight insomnia.  An article at Discovery News reports that research is being done on just such a cap.  The article states that it has been known that insomniacs have a more hyperactive frontal cortex.  This means that when the rest of the brain and body are ready for rest, the frontal lobe area is not.  Cooling the brain, reduces this hyperactivity and thereby resolves the insomnia.  Quoting the article:

In the latest experiment, the sleep researchers recruited 12 women to receive treatment with the caps. The participants had primary insomnia, meaning their disorders were not caused by mental or physical problems (unlike two-thirds of people with forms of the disorder).

The women wore the plastic caps before and during sleep, with tubes circulating cool water pressed to their foreheads. The effectiveness of the treatment — how well the women fell and stayed asleep — depended on the intensity and frequency of the treatment administered.

Big Hands, Big Feet, No… How About Finger Ratio?

Distribution of penis length in inches.

It seems that there may be some truth to the “big hands, big feet” myth… While my typical comedic response was that it only met big gloves, big shoes… However, an article at medical express indicates that there may be some truth to the myth.  Quoting the article:

The ratio between the second and fourth digits is linked to stretched penile length according to a study published online this week in Asian Journal of Androgyny. This finding suggests that digit ratio can predict adult penile size and that the effects of prenatal testosterone may in part explain the differences in adult penile length.

In other words, they believe that they can predict how long an infants schlong will be.  So are expecting mom’s of the future going to have t-shirts made saying my boy is going to be hung? I dunno maybe it will give a male advanced warning to save up for enhancements.

We shall close out this one with “Enhanced It” by Devo Spice.  Devo is a member of The Fump which is short for The Funny Music Project.  He and many other belly busting musicians can be found over at thefump.com and Mevio’s Music Alley.  You can also find Devo at devospice.com and his page at Mevio.  Devo Spice music can be purchased at Amazon, and Devo Spice His “Gnome Sane” CD is available at Devo Spice – Gnome Sane? Insomnia

An estimated 30%-50% of the general population are affected by insomnia, and 10% have chronic insomnia. I have very bad Insomnia its a hard thing to live with not getting much sleep maybe 2 to 3 hours a night if you are lucky. You get very tired you want to sleep but cannot it gets hard to concentrate after days of not sleeping very much. Insomnia is a symptom, not a stand-alone diagnosis or a disease. By definition, insomnia is “difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep or both” or the perception of poor quality sleep. Insomnia may therefore be due to inadequate quality or quantity of sleep. Insomnia is not defined by a specific number of hours of sleep that one gets, since individuals vary widely in their sleep needs and practices.

Insomnia is generally classified based on the duration of the problem. Not everyone agrees on one definition, but generally:

  • symptoms lasting less than one week are classified as transient insomnia,
  • symptoms between one to three weeks are classified as short-term insomnia, and
  • those longer than three weeks are classified as chronic insomnia

Symptoms of insomnia

Difficulty falling asleep

Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep

Waking up too early in the morning

Feeling tired upon waking

Sleepiness during the day.

General tiredness.

Irritability.

Problems with concentration or memory.

Causes of acute insomnia can include:

Significant life stress (job loss or change, death of a loved one, moving)

Illness.

Emotional or physical discomfort.

Environmental factors like noise, light, or extreme temperatures (hot or cold) that interfere with sleep.

Some medications (for example those used to treat colds, allergies, depression, high blood pressure, and asthma) may interfere with sleep.

Interferences in normal sleep schedule (jet lag or switching from a day to night shift, for example).

I have been given some awesome suggestions to help with insomnia Tea, no caffeine before bedtime , No chocolate ( I am not doing so well with that one lol ) also it’s a good idea to go away from everything that could keep you awake T.V computer etc just relax read etc..

Always consult with your doctor if you have chronic Insomnia to ask advice for treatment.

Until next time ..
