Frank Zappa Greeted by US Navy Marching Band
I agree with the thoughts of Alex Winter and Open Culture, many may have forgotten Frank Zappa
. That is sad. I shall always remember him as one of the most brilliant musicians of all time. His dark style of lyrics and breaking all the musical rules are simply the surface of his genius. He did all genre of music and it may be next century before we fully comprehend how brilliant his music is.
One great example of his musical genius is the track Rubber Shirt from the Sheik Yerbouti double album. The album became a huge hit when it was censored. The album is full of overdubs and is a masterful mix of songs. The Rubber Shirt track is an example of what Zappa called “Xanochrony”. The song is a mix of different musicians all recorded at different times, time signatures and tempos. The result sounds like a wonderful jazz improv.
Latchkey Revolt – Driving Hard Rock
Latchkey Revolt – High Energy Rock from Singapore
Latchkey Revolt is a quartet from Singapore. They are a hard-hitting rock band that pound the listener with great sound, grooves and solos. I like them much.
Disclaimer – Some of the lyrics in this material are explicit. This material is not safe for work. Listener discretion is advised.
Now if a little language does not bother you, I really suggest you listen on. These artists drive the songs from start to finish. All feature a powerful drive, each having their own individualism, and absolutely nothing dull about any of them. In my opinion, a great listen. Check out some Latchkey Revolt after the break.
The FuMP Hits 1000 Releases with “1000 FuMPs”
1000 FuMPs – The 1000th Release by The FuMP
The FuMP are one of my favorites. They have helped us much by sharing their music. I am very happy to an awesome announcement about The Funny Music Project. They have just released their 1000th song, 1000 FuMPs.

If this type of material offends you please respect the artist’s right to freedom of expression and exercise your right to freedom of choice and read another review at Indie Nation.
As usual, I have far more material in my inbox than time to review it all. However, I shall get to it all, in order, as rapidly as possible. I shall keep my pledge to “listen to the bad music so you don’t have to”. If you are a musician awaiting a response either I didn’t like your material or I just haven’t gotten to you yet. Be patient, sooner or later you will know.
I shall also continue to write positive-only reviews for the material that I happen on and like. Today, I would like to thank Undefined 901 or “U901” for giving me something to rave about. I don’t know much about the band other than they are from Memphis Tennesee.
The Band Avon Dale
The Band Avon Dale – Rocky, Bluesy and Jamin’ in Memphis
Warning: Some may consider this material may not safe for work and has some profanities. If that bothers you, please exercise your freedom of choice by going to another post as we exercise our freedom of speech.
The Band Avon Dale is a Memphis-based band. I will give you my take on them in a short minute. However, I think they do a great job of describing themselves, from their About Page:
“Avon Dale is a Memphis-based, rootsy rock band with a touch of soul. A four piece band featuring a dynamic rhythm section, the elemental sounds of an acoustic guitar, blues inspired electric guitar riffs, and soulful vocals, that range from tender and plaintive, to gritty and beseeching. A powerful live act, Avon Dale meshes concise rock ballads with lengthy improvisational jams. With a raw energetic presence, the band is quickly gaining followers in rock and jam band circles alike and becoming a Memphis must see act.”

Cats, Hobbits and Sci-Fi, An Excellent Fit for Gen Con
Before we even begin, I wish to caution the listener that some of this material may be NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Listener discretion is advised.
Marc’s music is characterized not only by its Celtic style but wit, humor and is often themed by sci-fi, Tolkien or cats. He is creative and entertaining. He is also another talent performing at Gen Con this year. Lumpy can’t wait to meet Marc at his booth this year.

I found out about this funny mock commercial from Funny or Die at a post which is much more serious. I would encourage you to read the more serious post at TechDirt. Unfortunately, the reason this video, featuring former porn star Sasha Grey, is funny is because it is true.
Personally, I think, in the spirit of “truth in advertising”, all cell phones should ship with this ringtone courtesy of They Might Be Giants (direct download link).

Buckcherry – New Album – Released in USA and Canada 19 February
Buckcherry to Release Confessions on February 19, 2013
I am very thankful that Century Media, a label who has the goal of bringing you the finest metal in the world, sent us a pre-release of Buckcherry’s new album, Confessions… And I mean really, really, really thankful. While we tend not to push much main stream music on our station, this album is must have for your metal collection. It is going to take dozens of listens for me to pick a favorite track.
This thirteen track album, conceptually about the Seven Deadly Sins, is one of the best releases I have heard in years. Kudos to the band for keeping with the signature style that we all love and simultaneously showing diversity. Naturally, I expect Buckcherry to release quality but, in my opinion, they really stepped it up with this release. I am not totally familiar with all six of this band’s releases but this is the best work I have ever heard from them and deserves the highest praise possible.
This album is to be released in the US and Canada on February 19. Mark your calendar and be sure and get this album… you will not regret it. You can check out this release by listening to the Podomatic Episode featuring the band.

08.12.2012 – The Failed Social Experiment – Episode 35: Too Much Fapping In This One
Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:38:13 — 224.9MB)
Here we are with a new week and a new episode. We planned on having Colie Jacks with us, but had to bump to next weekend due to schedule conflicts. As always, we improvise and move on, and make you fuckers laugh.
Big ups to indienation.fm for having us on their weekly rotation Sundays at 10PM central time.
In the weekly news, our neighbors are hick idiots, some people saw some meteors, and Club Applebee’s is possibly the dumbest idea ever. They should have had Nick in The Bourne Legacy since they didn’t have Bourne in it. The ass grabbers are invading Wal-Mart, and someone forgot to tell ICP that they’re irrelevant.
The NFL is back baby!!!! Life actually make sense again, even if it is just pre season.
Nick also shares in the horrors of getting icy hot on your genitalia, along with a sad moment over the retirement of porn star BiBi Jones.
Nick and Kevin are also trying to get back in shape because apparently being unhealthy can kill you or something. Exercise also leads to the most ridiculous conversations about masturbation we’ve ever come up with.
