The Bad Years – Common Mistake
What follows is a video of Common Mistake from the band, The Bad Years. Quoting their introduction email:
“The Bad Years members are Sami Akbari (aka Sami The Great) and Aaron Mort (formerly The Stone Foxes) and are based in the Thai Town neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The Video was directed by Jacob Arden McClure.
Sami Akbari on the meaning of ‘Common Mistake’:
‘For us it’s about being hopelessly in love but going through a period of frustration and doubt. You crave change but you’re just not feeling satisfied with the time it’s taking to get there, feelings of anxiousness, fear, and love combining…the eternal relationship struggle.'”
I am always leery of presenting only one track by an artist. It can fall short of showing exactly who the artist is. That said, in the unlikely chance you don’t like this track, please continue to read on after the video…
Now back to why I don’t like to share only a single track… while the above track does show the duo’s talent and ability, a single sample of their music would be parallel to only being permitted to order one item from the menu of the best restaurant in town. Sorry, my appetite is considerably larger and more diverse than that… An audio glutton perhaps.
Especially when it comes to this duo. In my opinion, the above track has an awesome 80s sound but don’t let it fool you to thinking that is their sound. Form no opinion until you listen to the chaotic guitar in Didn’t Need to Know, the vocal and guitar interplay in Giving Up, the guitar work and vocals in in Beautiful Liar, the harmony in Pieces, and the variety of style in their work.
I would urge all of you to explore The Bad Years at all the links below:
