Alternative Singer-Songwriter, Megan Landry
In my opinion this young lady has some serious talent. I had a difficult time deciding what tracks to choose for this podcast. The reason being is that they are all excellent.
Those of you who read my reviews and follow my podcasts know that I am not a fan of genre. She spins herself as alternative. While that may be the best genre for her, I feel she does and excellent job of blending styles. I don’t consider all of her work “alternative”. She does some material I would call blues, pop, etc., The important point is that her work is varied in a great way. He songs do not all sound the same.
She writes some great lyrics, adds appropriate music and wonderful vocals. I was very impressed by the wonderful backing vocals on Wallpaper. Also, she seems very talented with video as well, check out the video at the end of this post.
Megan is very good at setting the mood of a song (and video). While it is one thing to make good music, it is much better to make music that moves the listener emotionally. It is nice to see young talent doing more than just pushing out pop tunes. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) I noticed that other reviewers often refer to her as an “Ottawa teen”. She might fit that description based on years but she is certainly much more mature than such as a singer and songwriter.
Megan has also done some work to bring awareness to bullying. (Check out the related articles below.) Her song Stronger is about that. She has made headlines for some time now and I expect her to continue doing so.
I promise you that if you check out her music you will find something you will love.
